Description

The Cornflower Frosty Mix is an annual plant. It consists of flowers measuring 2 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) in diameter. It's a mix of blue, blue-violet, pink, purple, or white colours and each petal is edged with white or pink. Its leaves measure 10 to 20 cm (4 to 8in) long and are lanceolate, entire, and woolly on the underside. Its stems are long and thread-like.

Centaurea cyanus, native to Europe, is very hardy and can reach a height of up to 75 cm (30in). This summer flower is perfect for flower beds, borders, or even floral arrangements. It withstands drought very well and can be exposed to full sun or partial shade. The Cornflower Frosty Mix can be sown in March-May and will flower from June to September, or it can be sown in August-September and its flowering will occur in the following June and July.

Centaurea cyanus is also known as the cornflower. Its name comes from the fact that in the past, it often grew as a weed in cultivated fields. It is the flower that symbolises the armistice of November 11, 1918 and it is also the symbolic flower of Estonia. It pairs well with poppies and daisies, as well as roses. Additionally, it is attractive to butterflies and bees.
