Description

The Centaurea cyanus, native to Europe, is very hardy and grows up to 45 cm (17.7 in) tall. This summer flower is perfect for borders, flower beds, or even floral arrangements. It withstands drought well and can be exposed to full sun or partial shade. The Cornflower Polka Dot can be sown from March to May and will bloom from June to September, or it can be sown in August to September and will flower in June and July the following year.

The Cornflower Polka Dot is an annual plant. It consists of flowers measuring 2 to 4 cm (0.8 - 1.6 in) in diameter. It is a mix of blue, pink, or lilac colors and shades. Its leaves are 10 to 20 cm (3.9 - 7.9 in) long and are lanceolate, entire, and woolly on the underside. Its stems are long and thread-like.

The Centaurea cyanus is also known as the cornflower. Its name comes from the fact that in the past, it often grew as a weed in cultivated fields. It is the flower that symbolizes the armistice of November 11, 1918 in France, as well as the symbolic flower of Estonia. This bushy plant pairs well with poppies and daisies, as well as roses. Additionally, it is attractive to butterflies and bees.
