Our ornamental grass seeds allow you to create light borders, flowering meadows, or dried cut flower arrangements without breaking the bank. Stipa tenuissima 'Pony Tails' is one of the best-known: this perennial forms small, very flexible clumps that undulate in the wind under the sun, in rather poor and dry soils.
Briza maxima, the greater quaking grass, is an annual grass adorned with small pendulous hearts and widely used in dried flowers; it is content with ordinary, rather light soil and a sunny position. Muhlenbergia capillaris 'Ruby', a perennial for a not-too-cold climate, produces a mist of purplish-pink feathery plumes in late summer. Hordeum jubatum, foxtail barley, is recognisable by its long, flexible spikes, light green then blonde; it brings a natural meadow look to the garden. Blue fescue seeds produce small, steel-blue evergreen clumps that decorate rockeries, borders, and containers.

Generally speaking, grasses appreciate a sunny position and tolerate well-drained, even poor soil, but some species require cooler ground or mild winters; seed germination can sometimes be a bit slow or irregular depending on the variety. Sowing is often done in spring, in situ or in pots, in a light substrate, following the specific recommendations for each species.
