Our range of Gypsophila Seeds – For Light, Airy Clouds in Your Garden. Gypsophila is an annual or perennial plant famous for its cloud-like flowering, in borders as well as in bouquets. The most common variety grown from seed is Gypsophila elegans 'Covent Garden', an annual with white summer flowering. It comes in several cultivars, like 'Deep Carmine', with very decorative, small, carmine pink flowers. Gypsophila paniculata 'Snowflake' is a particularly elegant perennial that can be grown from seed. Its panicles of semi-double to double white flowers are widely used in both fresh and dried bouquets. Gypsophila muralis 'Gypsy Deep Rose' is more compact and forms dense cushions covered with bright pink flowers.
These airy plants measure between 30 and 60 cm tall, depending on the varieties. They appreciate well-drained soils, even calcareous ones, and full sun exposure. Sow directly in place, between April and June, or indoors from March for early flowering. The young plants should be thinned out after germination to develop properly.
Gypsophilas tolerate drought well once established. Their rapid growth and airy habit make them very pretty plants for borders, rock gardens, and both fresh and dried bouquets.
