Description

F1 Easy Wave® Pink Pearl Trailing Petunia Seeds allow you to grow this tender perennial, cultivated as an annual, at a lower cost, an essential for summer containers. Combining vigour, floribundity and elegance, this hybrid variety stands out with its semi-trailing habit, dense and flexible stems, and luminous pearl-pink flowers with purplish hues that withstand adverse weather well. Ideal for hanging baskets, planters or as a border edging, it quickly forms a generously developing floral cushion. It is easy to grow, thriving in full sun in fertile, light and well-drained soil.

F1 Easy Wave® Pink Pearl Trailing Petunia is a hybrid cultivar of Petunia × hybrida, belonging to the Solanaceae family. It was developed by PanAmerican Seed and is marketed under the cultivar name 'PAS1627385'. This cultivar is distinguished by its bright pearl-pink flowers, adorned with violet-pink veins at the centre, which retain their colour even under variable climatic conditions. Its habit is semi-trailing and slightly more compact than classic Wave varieties, reaching a height of 15 to 30 cm and spreading up to 70 cm, making it ideal for hanging baskets, planters and borders. The large flowers measure up to 8 cm in diameter and are slightly darker in cool weather. They appear from spring until the first frosts. Pollinated by insects; they attract bees and butterflies. The foliage consists of ovate to lanceolate, medium green, slightly sticky leaves, which are evergreen as long as conditions are favourable. The stems are flexible and slightly hairy. The roots are clustered, dense and shallow, suited to pot cultivation or well-drained open ground. The development of the Wave series, which includes Easy Wave Pink Pearl, revolutionised petunia cultivation by introducing more vigorous, abundantly flowering varieties suited to hanging baskets. This horticultural innovation has broadened the use of petunias in modern landscaping.

Under a generous sun, the Easy Wave Pink Pearl Petunia unfurls its cascades of pearly corollas. In a hanging basket, in the shade of an arbour, it finds perfect harmony alongside Helichrysum petiolare ‘Silver’, Lobelia erinus ‘Regatta Sky Blue’ and the contrasting small flowers of Calibrachoa ‘Million bells Lemon'. Placed in the foreground of a border or in a pot, it provides continuous colour until the first frosts. Petunia thrives in the sun, sheltered from the wind. Plant it in rich, light and well-drained soil or substrate. Its cultivation is easy, but it is thirsty for water. To encourage and support its long flowering, it is advisable to regularly remove spent flowers and provide, especially in pots and planters, a fertiliser rich in potash, which will promote the appearance of new flowers.

Please note: these seeds are reserved for experienced gardeners accustomed to sowing very fine seeds. These seeds are as fine as dust, barely visible to the naked eye.

Planting and care

Sow Petunia Pink Pearl from February to April on the surface of a good sowing compost and gently firm down. Lightly cover the seeds with a fine layer of vermiculite or sieved compost. Place the tray in a propagator (or enclose it in a polythene bag) or above a radiator, at a temperature of 21 to 25°C. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Light aids germination which usually takes 10 to 21 days.

When the young petunia plants are large enough to handle, proceed with transplanting. Gradually acclimatise the young plants to cooler conditions until they are strong enough to be planted outside, once all risk of frost has passed. Transplant into well-drained soil at a distance of 30 cm or grow them in pots or containers.
