Description
The Shake Blueberry dwarf petunia is a compact and early variety with bicoloured flowers, each different, incorporating violet more or less purplish or bluish like blueberry and creamy yellow in varying amounts, generally with a dark throat. They are of an intermediate size between those of Petunia grandiflora and P. multiflora, around 5 to 6 cm in diameter. Ideal for borders and pots, this floriferous annual plant is to be sown, in warmth, from the end of winter.
Belonging to the solanaceae family, the genus Petunia encompasses 35 species of herbaceous plants, perennial or annual, originating from tropical regions of South America, notably Brazil. Hybridizers have had a field day in terms of varietal innovation. There are numerous varieties of petunias and other surfinias, with single or double flowers, more or less large and variegated. Petunias' foliage is downy and slightly sticky to the touch. Shake Blueberry forms a 20 to 25 cm mound in all directions.
From June until the first frosts, this dwarf petunia is covered in single flowers, each a little surprise in terms of their nuances. In your pots, accompany it with Lobelias like 'Regatta Deep Blue' or Dichondra Silver Falls with silver foliage and trailing habit. Petunias are perfect for enhancing borders made up of plants with grey foliage, like cerastiums or wormwoods, or for filling the base of roses.

Planting and care
In February-March, it is time to sow the seeds of petunia Shake Blueberry. In a bucket, place the seeds on the surface of a special sowing soil enriched with compost. Place the bucket at a temperature of 21-27°C to facilitate germination. You can mix the seeds with sand or light soil to sow more thinly. Do not cover the seeds, but gently press them to adhere to the substrate which should be kept moist (but not waterlogged). Germination generally takes between 10 and 21 days.
When the young plants are large enough to handle, transplant them into pots and let them develop in cooler conditions. 10 to 15 days before planting them in the garden, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions.
Once all risk of frost has passed, plant them in the ground or in a pot, in a sunny and sheltered spot from strong winds, in well-drained soil.
