More information

This seed mix brings together 23 species of perennial wild plants and some annuals, adapted to large shaded spaces, such as forest edges, large hedges or parks, and rural areas, to recreate a natural environment. Among other things, we find vigorous species that spread widely, like Malva sylvestris or Hesperis matronalis. To be sown directly in place, in ordinary, well-worked soil, in autumn or spring, for spring and summer flowering.

Description

This Mix of Wild Flowers Shadows & Lights gathers seeds of 23 species of wild plants, designed to establish themselves permanently and adorn shaded areas large enough such as forest edges, large hedges, parks or large countryside spaces. Indeed, it includes vigorous plants like Malva sylvestris or Hesperis matronalis which can spread widely. Some annual species like Consolida regalis and Dracocephalum moldavica bring the first flowers, followed by Linum perenne and Prunella vulgaris. To be sown directly in place, in September-October or between February and May, in ordinary, well-worked soil.

This mix includes, among others, Agrimonia eupatoria, Aquilegia vulgaris, bellflowers, Carex remota, Euphorbia cyparissias, Fragaria vesca, Lychnis flos-cuculis, Stellaria holostea. It blooms from the first summer if sown in spring and from spring onwards in subsequent years. The plants are 40 cm (16in) to 1m (3ft) tall. They show rapid growth and easily naturalize through spontaneous sowing in the garden, in ordinary and well-draining soil.

The Mix of Wild Flowers Shadows & Lights is a mix specially composed of perennial plants and a few annuals to vegetate large rural or somewhat wild spaces, considering the presence of vigorous species, in semi-shaded or clear shade areas. It is not intended for small garden scale. It allows for sustainable vegetation of spaces that are little maintained or visited, and whose situation is rather shaded (do not sow in dense shade).

Planting and care

Sowing:

Sow directly in open ground, in a sunny location, on well-prepared, loosened, well-drained and warmed soil from March to May. Sow by broadcasting and lightly rake to cover the seeds. It is also possible to sow in rows at a depth of 1.5 cm (1in), with a spacing of 30 cm (12in) between each furrow. Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination will take between 14 and 21 days.

Cultivation:

Water if necessary. The mix contains seeds of perennial and annual plants. Regularly remove faded flowers to encourage new flowering. In autumn, perennial plants can be cut back, and annual plants as well, but only after the ripeness of the seeds for spontaneous reseeding from the following spring...
