Description

Myosotis sylvatica 'Bluesylva'is the simplest and most delightfully romantic of blue flowers. It is a biennial plant, particularly appreciated when its pure, almost electric, blue flowers with small yellow eyes, appear early in spring. It enhances all the plants in the garden or on the terrace, and forms a dazzling carpet at the base of bulbs, bushes, and perennials. This plant often self-seeds, not always faithfully, in random flowerbeds. It thrives in moist, fertile, and well-drained soil, in the sun or in the semi-shade of the undergrowth. Autumn planting ensures excellent spring flowering.

Forget-me-not is a plant from the borage family, native to meadows, clear undergrowth, and the edge of forests. The 'Blue Sylva' variety is a short-lived perennial plant, usually cultivated as a biennial. It has a compact habit and is distinguished by very early and abundant flowering until June. It forms small rosettes of downy, pale green foliage from which hairy, branched stems emerge, from April to June carrying 20 cm (7.9 in) tall curved inflorescences that lengthen as the flowers bloom. They are composed of flowers 3 to 10 mm (0.1 to 0.4 in) in diameter, with an extremely bright, pure blue colour and a small yellow heart. Once well established, forget-me-not and its cultivars self-seed abundantly in the garden.

Forget-me-not is traditionally used to enhance spring flowers and bulbs (daffodils, narcissus, primrose), dwarf irises, or tulips. You can also plant it in large groups to create a colourful carpet in perennial beds, borders, and containers. In warmer regions, it will thrive in woodland alongside bleeding hearts or horned violets. The delicate flowers of wood forget-me-not are very decorative in spring bouquets, to complement large flowers (especially peonies or roses).

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, repot them as soon as possible, in pots, containers, or directly in flowerbeds.
