Primula vulgaris Belarina Blue Ripples- English Primrose

The 'Belarina Blue Ripples' double primrose offers very double flowers, purplish-blue with white centers and margins, adorned with small golden spots in the throat. They cluster together in bouquets on a tangle of large, wavy, evergreen leaves, a beautiful vibrant green. This variety blooms for a long time in late winter and spring. Invite it in pots, in your flower boxes, your flower beds, and your borders. Offering a multitude of colours and a burst of optimism at the end of winter, the Belarina primrose even grows in the shade.

The Primula vulgaris (acaulis) Belarina Blue Ripples is a herbaceous perennial plant from the primrose family, originating from the common primrose commonly found in our meadows and woodlands. It is part of a series of recent cultivars that stand out for their double corollas, vibrant colours, and extended flowering period. They are floriferous and hardy plants that form lovely dense clumps of foliage, 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8in) tall and 20 to 30 cm (8 to 12in) wide in just a few months. They develop rosettes of wavy and veined evergreen leaves in winter. 'Belarina Blue Ripples' produces 3 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) diameter flowers that appear for 4 to 5 weeks. They are very double, resembling small roses, gathered in perfect bouquets. They are beautiful, but also slightly fragrant and carried by short villous peduncles surrounded by a collar of luxuriant foliage.

Garden primroses are perennials grown as biennials. Perfect in pots, flower boxes, flower beds, and even growing in the shade in fertile and moist soil, they deserve a place in every garden and on every balcony. They announce and precede the return of spring alongside botanical tulips, pansies and violas, and cornelian violets and forget-me-nots. They are ideal under the cover of deciduous trees, in rockeries and short grass meadows, and they intermingle with snowdrops and violets. The leaves and flowers are edible and can be consumed raw or cooked.
