The applied nursery spade 40 cm (16in) Novagrip handle Leborgne is a particularly strong and comfortable gardener's tool, specially designed for transplanting and uprooting trees and bushes in heavy and clayey soils! Its narrow and long head is made of hardened and polished steel mounted on a high socket with a reinforced ring, which supports the large efforts required to work consistent soils without getting stuck, thus facilitating the tool's penetration into the soil and its cleaning. The footrests facilitate the tool's insertion without damaging the boots. The Novagrip handle is made of a lightweight, unbreakable tri-material and an anti-slip elastomer grip, pleasant and ergonomic. Its "T" shape allows better control and direction of the carried loads, making it more suitable for users with less strength. It is also used for preparing the soil before cultivation and for burying amendments in normal to heavy, less rocky soils. Available in a version with a 36 x 20 cm (8in) head. Made in France.
Dimensions: Spade blade: 40cm (16in) x 20cm (8in) - Weight: 1.9kg - Handle length: 90cm (35in)
The spade is a garden tool designed for intensive work in less rocky and heavy soils. It is a long and narrow-bladed spade used for deep soil preparation work that requires precision and strength, such as in the case of clayey soils. It is also used by nurserymen to uproot trees or bushes with substantial root systems. Its polished blade on both sides easily penetrates these types of soil, while its high socket provides high resistance to tipping and lifting heavy weights, while protecting the handle from rot and dirt. Use it to turn the soil deeply, bury fertilizers and amendments such as manure, and carry out transplantations. It is also used for earthworks, particularly for digging trenches for drainage pipes or creating a hedge. This model is equipped with a fully hardened steel head, which gives it great wear resistance. Its high socket with reinforced ring ensures an excellent connection between the two parts, while facilitating cleaning. The blade is polished to reduce soil sticking, allowing better penetration into the soil and easier tool maintenance. The footrests allow the use of its weight to sink the tool without cutting the boots. Its lightweight handle is made of a tri-material consisting of fiberglass, copolymer polypropylene, and elastomer, which is both sturdy, shock-resistant, and comfortable to hold. Its crutch shape ensures better control of carried loads and tool orientation, making it suitable for gardeners with less strength.
Leborgne is a French company born out of metallurgical activity in Savoie in 1829. Today, it is a specialist in the manufacture of high-quality hand tools, used in construction, masonry, landscaping, and gardening, among other fields. This tool is under warranty. The warranty does not apply to handles or grips, only to the metal parts, except consumables (screws, springs, etc.), and within the scope of normal use.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
