For this order, 3 dwarf fruit trees: - One plum tree - One apricot tree - One fig tree The 3 shrubs arrive in the same box, so I advise against postponing the delivery. The sooner they are opened and planted, the sooner the tree will recover. There are a few small branches broken, but nothing irreparable. Two days later, the shrubs are already standing upright. Now, we just have to wait for winter to pass, hoping that the trees can withstand the cold, even though their hardiness should allow them to. In the end, I am happy with my order.

Description

The Goldust' dwarf plum tree is a dwarf variety of plum tree. It is ideal for balconies, terraces, and small gardens. Self-fertile and quick to bear fruit, this variety produces fruits as large as a standard-sized plum tree. Approximately 4 cm (2in) in diameter, the plums are yellow, sweet, and have a fragrant flesh. Harvesting takes place in August.

The original area of plum trees is believed to be Syria, not China. During the time of Roman hegemony in the region, various local fruits including the plum were introduced to Rome. The 'Goldust' dwarf plum tree is a dwarf variety selected in France.

This fruit tree naturally grows up to 1.5 m (5ft) in height when fully grown. Its compact dwarf habit is appreciated. It can be grown in pots or in open ground. It thrives in full sun or partial shade, sheltered from the wind, and grows in all types of rich, moist, deep, and even heavy soil, but without limestone.
Its leaves are ovate, almost oblong, dentate, and slightly pubescent. The flowering, a beautiful white-pink, occurs in April. The tree is completely covered in flowers that appear on the previous year's shoots. They are self-fertile. This variety produces fruits as large as a standard-sized plum tree. Approximately 4 cm (2in) in diameter, the plums are yellow, sweet, and have a fragrant flesh.

The plums are consumed raw at the base of the tree, in fruit salads, but also in desserts, pastries, as an accompaniment to meats and dishes. They can be transformed into jams, of course, but also into preserved fruits, compotes. They can also be used to make brandy.

Planting and care

Easy to grow, the 'Goldust' dwarf Plum tree thrives in pots and in any type of light, rich, neutral or acidic soil, moist but not excessively humid and without limestone. Ensure proper drainage by adding a thin layer of gravel to the planting hole. Dig a hole two to three weeks before planting, twice as wide and deep as the pot. On planting day, place the tree with its pot in a basin of water, allowing the soil to be moistened by capillary action. Add compost to the bottom of the hole. Plant the tree in the hole, fill with a mixture of soil and compost. Do not bury the graft union. Firmly tamp down the soil around the base. The root ball should be completely covered. Water thoroughly. During winter, you can add a small handful of wood ash, rich in potash, to improve fruiting.
