Description

The Carex oshimensis Evergold forms a dense clump from which beautiful trailing green leaves highlighted with a wide cream-yellow stripe emerge. Its evergreen foliage is decorative both in summer and winter. Its flowers take the form of small upright spikes of light brown colour.

This sedge plant is ideal for growing in pots or open-ground areas that receive partial to full sun exposure. It requires moist soil but should not be overwatered. The Evergold Carex is best used for its foliage, as it complements other plants such as heucheras and hostas. Together, they create a visually striking decoration.

Planting and care

The Carex oshimensis is an adaptable plant that can grow well in various soil types as long as they are moist but well-drained. It can even tolerate moderate drought, making it easy to grow and maintain. The plant can thrive in any exposure but will have brighter foliage in partial shade or dappled sunlight. During planting, water it abundantly, but avoid doing so during freezing periods. Also, do not use fertiliser too much as it can damage the plant. At the end of winter, remove any damaged foliage by combing it, but be careful not to cut it down to the ground as this may kill the plant.
