Description
Disporopsis pernyi, a small perennial of the undergrowth with bell-shaped flowers in whitish green with a lemony fragrance on semi-evergreen foliage.

Native to Chinese undergrowth, this small perennial, similar to Solomon's seals, forms bushy clumps 40-50cm (16-20in) in height. Its stump spreads slowly with the help of fine rhizomes on the surface of the soil, eventually forming dense and compact clumps. In spring, it bears a multitude of whitish green, small, bell-shaped flowers on dark green foliage, which is semi-evergreen.
Completely hardy and easy to grow, Disporopsis pernyi thrives in shade or partial shade, in any moist soil rich in humus. It can also tolerate heavy soil, although its growth will be slower.

Plant Disporopsis pernyi on the edge of the undergrowth, on partially shaded slopes, in a damp rockery, or along a border alongside small hostas, Holcus mollis, epimediums, brunneras, omphalodes, or creeping bleeding hearts.
