Description

Solidago altissima is a tall perennial, non-invasive goldenrod. It has a slightly creeping rhizome base with upright, flexible stems bearing narrow and toothed, dark green leaves.

The large golden-yellow flowers appear late in the season, reaching up to 2 metres (7 feet) high.

These perennial plants are highly appreciated for their late flowering, modern varieties of goldenrods have mostly replaced the old, invasive and less attractive ones. They are robust plants that only dislike excessive heat and drought, which can cause powdery mildew on the foliage.
