Description

Perennial plants very resistant to cold. Despite their toxicity, deserve wide use, in the background of flower beds, in the company of large perennial geraniums, dahlias or grasses such as Miscanthus. They like a soil rich in humus, sun or partial shade, are not afraid of limestone, but hate dry and poor soils.

Multitude of 3cm (1in) long, blue-violet flowers, at the top of stems that can exceed 2 metres (7 feet) in height. For the back of the border, in the company of Macleaya microcarpa, Kitaibelia vitifolia or even giant Cephalaria gigantea with pale yellow flowers.
