Description

This collection of 6 assorted Pacific Delphiniums will offer you sumptuous borders. 3 varieties in white, sky blue and midnight blue shades.

Delphinium or Larkspur. The Pacifics are recent hybrids remarkable for the size of their inflorescences, ranging from 1 m (3 ft) to 1.2 m (4 ft) long on numerous stems of 1.8 to 2 m (6 to 7 ft).

Main flowering in June, perpetual if the stems are cut back as they fade.

Note: From March to September, the stems of our delphiniums are pruned short to allow better branching of the stump and achieve optimal rooting. This pruning also prevents the stems from breaking during transportation.

Planting and care

Plant them in spring after the last frost. Plant in a sunny position, in cool, rich and well-drained soil. Leave at least two or three shoots on young plants and five to seven on already established delphiniums. During growth, water once or twice a week and apply liquid fertiliser every two or three weeks. Remove faded flowers by cutting the spikes at the level of the small lateral flower shoots. Cut the entire plant back to ground level in autumn.

Tip: Embrace height with these giant plants that structure and balance volumes in the garden. The tallest ones, when isolated, will add volume and lightness against a dark backdrop of hedges or conifers. The ones of intermediate size will dress up tall flower beds, such as those with giant dahlias. Take care to maintain the vegetation with regular watering, and watch out for slugs.
