The plant has taken well, developed nicely but no flowers at all. Disappointing. I'll give it a chance to "redeem" itself next year.

Description

Erigeron 'Rosa Triumph' is a small perennial with double mauve flowers with a golden yellow centre take on accents of summer daisies.

Also known as Fleabane, the typical variety of this Asteraceae is native to the great plains and mountainous areas of North America. It is a well-branched plant with upright stems of 60 cm (24in) and long, abundant flowering. Numerous flowers, 2 cm (1in) diameter, appear from June to September. The mauve ligulate flowers are finer than those of asters, to which they bear a strong resemblance. The secondary stems, often longer than the main stem, give Erigeron its characteristic candelabra-like habit. Its deciduous foliage, with a deep green colour, forms tufts and creates an ideal vegetative carpet as groundcover, for example, to line the edge of a flower bed.

Erigeron is undemanding and adapts to all types of soil including limestone soils. It prefers to be without water in summer rather than tolerate soils with stagnant moisture. As you may have guessed, it thrives best in full sun. It naturalises easily and its astonishing adaptability allows it to colonise the most unlikely places: any crack, any crevice is accessible to it. Consider using it to dress up a rockery or line a wall alongside Red Valerian (Centranthus ruber) or Erigeron 'Dunkelste Aller'. Our little Fleabane is also appreciated as a cut flower in wild bouquets.

Planting and care

Plant Erigeron 'Rosa Triumph' in moist, neutral to alkaline soil, even rocky soil, in rockeries or in well-drained flower beds and in the sun. You can deadhead the flowers to prolong the flowering period. Easy to grow, it requires no particular care, but is sensitive to excess moisture in winter. You can easily divide the clumps in spring.
