It arrived looking a bit "sad", I hope it will thrive, but we'll see in spring.

Description

These two excellent perennial Geraniums bloom continuously from June to October and their blue and pink flowers complement each other perfectly. Unmatched in their generosity, they are easily cultivated in any good garden soil and form a beautiful ground cover in full sun or partial shade.

The collection consists of:

- 1 Perennial Geranium 'Rozanne', with large bicolour blue flowers with white centres, approximately 5 cm (2in) in diameter, on a clump of large apple-green leaves slightly maculated with dark green in the centre. It has a creeping habit, spreading to form semi-bushy mats 30 cm (12in) tall and 50 cm (20in) wide.

- 1 perennial geranium 'Dreamland' with large flowers approximately 5 cm (2in) in diameter, delicately soft pink in colour, lightly veined with darker pink. Its green foliage is edged in white in spring, forming a clump about 35 cm (14in) tall and 40 cm (16in) wide.

Individually labelled

This duo can be planted along borders or at the edge of woodland, alongside easy-to-grow perennials such as Nepeta 'Six Hill Giant', heucheras, and Phlox paniculata. Perennial geraniums are very useful for beautifying the base of old shrub roses, giving them summer interest. They also harmonize very well with taller perennials, such as lupins or salvias, for example.

Planting and care

The perennial Geranium is not very demanding, meaning it will grow well in both full sun and partial shade. The nature of the soil is not very important, just make sure there is no stagnant water at its base during the harshness of winter, and that it does not lack water in summer. For planting, work your soil to a depth of 20 cm (8in), crumble the soil well and place a bottom amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated bone in the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, refill and water generously to eliminate air pockets. During very dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Divide your perennial geranium preferably in autumn, after flowering. Division allows the plant to regain vigor.
