Description

The oxonianum Hollywood perennial Geranium is an excellent ground cover as beautiful as it is robust. It has the particularity of producing flowers that are initially deep pink, streaked with purple and then lighten, giving the impression of having bicolor flowers.

This perennial geranium has a wide, spreading, bushy habit and rapid growth. Its semi-evergreen leaves are light green, basal, 5 to 20cm (2 to 8in) long, with 5 lobes, each divided into 5 dentate, undulate, and veined segments. In May, its funnel-shaped, single flowers, 3 cm (1in) in diameter, renew themselves for over a month.

Hardy and undemanding, the Hollywood oxonianum Geranium is a true all-terrain perennial, which thrives in rich, humus-bearing, and moist soil. It adapts to all light conditions but flowers more in the sun.

The 'Hollywood' perennial Geranium is easy to grow and can be placed anywhere: perennial borders, rock gardens, slopes, containers.

Planting and care

The perennial Geranium oxonianum Hollywood should be planted from September to April in a rich and well-drained soil, preferably in full sun. Space it 30cm (12in) apart in all directions. Carefully weed while the plant takes up all the space. Mulch in summer to keep the soil cool. Divide clumps every 5 years after flowering to rejuvenate and propagate them. Cut back the faded stems to encourage a second flowering. Watch out for slugs!
