White-flowered heathers include Calluna and Erica, whose flowering extends from late summer to spring, depending on the variety. Their evergreen foliage and bright flowers enhance rockeries, borders, banks and containers.
Calluna vulgaris 'Alba' is covered with white bells from August to October. In winter, Erica × darleyensis 'Winter Belles Katia' bears large pure-white bells, while Erica carnea 'Springwood White' remains in flower until early spring. Taller, Erica arborea 'Alpina' forms a true shrub covered with small, fragrant white flowers from late winter to May, depending on the climate.
If flowering season guides your choice, summer heathers allow you to compare all our varieties of heather, while our selection of winter heathers brings together Erica that flower from November to March. To find out everything about these evergreen shrubs, read our complete guide, "Heathers: planting, pruning and maintenance".
