I love the hellebores at Promesses de Fleurs because they are already strong and ready to bloom. That's why I renew my trust for this one.

Description

Originally from northwest Turkey to the Caucasus and northeastern Greece, Helleborus x hybridus Yellow Spottedis a perennial plant with yellow flowers with purple speckles that will brighten up the shaded areas of your garden in winter. It is a hardy plant that can tolerate temperatures as low as -15°C (5°F). It has evergreen palate, slightly toothed, dark green and shiny basal leaves, 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16in) long, composed of 7 to 9 leaflets.

Oriental Hellebore reaches a height of 40 cm (16in) at maturity and spreads over 30 cm (12in). From January to March, a bouquet of simple, cup-shaped, nodding flowers forms, measuring 5 to 7 cm (2 to 3in) in diameter. Hellebore is a bushy plant which does not like to be moved once established, as the young plants take some time to bloom.

This toxic plant should be handled with caution. It is suitable as cut flowers and in borders, flower beds, or containers. Over time, Hellebore flowers do not wilt like the majority of other flowers, but rather dry out.

Each seed-sown Hellebore has a unique flower colour, therefore slight colour variations may exist between two plants, which is normal and unavoidable. However, if the difference is too significant and distorts the desired effect, we will refund or replace the affected plant.

Planting and care

Helleborus Orientalis grows in most soils that are rich and neutral in partial or light shade, sheltered from the wind. Plant from early autumn to spring to bloom from January to March. It thrives in deeply worked soil mixed with organic matter. To feed, use bone meal or another organic fertilizer. In acidic soil, add a little lime. Water well after planting and add a layer of mulch 2 to 5 cm (1 to 2in) thick. Regularly remove withered leaves. Cut most of the leaves to showcase the flowers. Be careful not to plant too close to each other to promote their development. Hellebore does not like stagnant water as it may cause it to rot.
