Kniphofias or Tritomas are impressive perennials with slender, elongated foliage ranging from 50 cm (20in) to 1.2m (4ft) in height. Also known as "Torch lily", their flowering consists of upright spikes ending in a flamboyant cylindrical inflorescence that lasts from April to September, depending on the species. The tubular flowers in yellow, red, and orange attract bees. Also known as False Aloes, they are easy to grow and care for, they thrive in well-drained and sunny soils. Despite being hardy, it is still necessary to protect the Tritoma roots with a good mulch during harsh winters. They enhance flowerbeds with tall, graceful perennials and can also be grown in pots with the addition of fertiliser every spring.

You'll love them!
