Description

Persicaria filiformis is a beautiful perennial knotweed with coral red spikes adorned with a sumptuous bright green foliage marked with a chocolate brown "V".

This perennial knotweed forms a rounded clump, non-suckering, with flexible and slender stems 50-60cm (20-24in) tall. It bears in mid-summer, long, thin and thread-like coral red flowers that have earned it the name Persicaria filiformis.

This plant with highly variable foliage has deciduous leaves of a beautiful bright green, strongly marked with a chocolate brown "V" on the upper side of the lamina.

Easy to grow, Persicaria virginiana var. filiformis thrives in partial shade, in any rich, moist to wet soil. Plant it in the middle or back of a border, at the edge of a woodland or in a lush garden alongside loosestrifes, sedges, hostas, heucheras and rodgersias.
