Among the 12 young plants that I ordered, only 1 was more or less okay. The rest were completely broken, only the stem survived...

Description

Polemonium 'Bressingham Purple', also known as Greek Valerian, is a perennial that offers a beautiful flowering of linen blue with a white and deep violet centre, blooming above bronze foliage in spring, then turning dark green.

The Greek Valerian 'Bressingham Purple' is an upright perennial, reaching 50cm (20in) in height and 30cm (12in) in spread. Its leaves emerge bronze in colour and turn dark green, divided into 8 to 14 lanceolate and slightly hairy leaflets. During the months of June to July, a melliferous flowering in the form of linen blue star-shaped flowers with a white and deep violet centre will appear for your utmost pleasure.

Very hardy (-30°C (-22°F)) and easy to grow, it is not demanding. It will thrive in any type of soil, from slightly alkaline to slightly acidic, rich, humus-bearing, moist, well-drained, and damp.

Plant it in a mixed border or in a massif in association with anemones, pasque flowers, or wings. This variety prefers sunny to semi-shady exposures.
