Description

Polemonium reptans 'Stairway to Heaven', also known as Greek Valerian, is a perennial with a robust habit and a spreading habit. From May to June, pale blue flowers emerge. This polemonium has basal tufts of irregularly pinnate leaves, composed of numerous leaflets. The foliage is variegated, with a green colour and cream margins, turning pink in spring. It has a particularly attractive deciduous foliage, and will help to brighten up a dark corner of the garden.

At maturity, Polemonium reptans 'Stairway to Heaven' reaches a height of 40 cm (16 in). It is a plant native to the eastern United States.

Planting and care

Place Polemonium reptans Stairway to Heaven in a partially shaded or sunny position. Plant it in a light, rich, humus-bearing soil that is moist and not too dry. Remove faded inflorescences. Polemonium can be susceptible to powdery mildew.
