The plant is a match. Bees visit it, but they seem more excited about other Sedum varieties. I don't find it as pink as in the photos. In the future, I would choose a plant that develops a firmer shape. I think there are more interesting varieties, but that's a very personal opinion.

Description

Sedum (or Stonecrop) Red Cauli produces magnificent hemispherical carmine-red flowers, and is adorned with blue-grey foliage.

A rockery and dry terrain plant, Sedum 'Red Cauli' forms carpets 25 cm (10 in) in height.

It produces magnificent succulent leaves of a blue-grey colour. In summer, the plant is covered with abundant carmine-red flowers, attracting a large number of pollinating insects.

This sedum loves sun, well-drained and poor soil. It is very hardy and withstands temperatures down to -15 °C (5 °F) without any problems, provided it is not overwatered by winter rains. If in doubt, a simple and effective technique during humid winters is to install a translucent glass or plastic plate above the stump, so that the plant is positioned out of water until March.

Splendid in a rockery, it also grows very well in a pot.

Planting and care

Sedum Red Cauli thrives in full and even scorching sun. It also tolerates drought. Plant it in ordinary soil that is low in nutrients or even poor, as well as rather dry and well drained. It is a low-maintenance plant. When planting, prepare a hole 30 cm (12 in) wide and deep and space it 30 cm (12 in) away from other plants. Do not overwater. At the end of winter, cut off the withered or frost-damaged stems. Sedum 'Red Cauli' does not tolerate winter moisture or heavy soils.
