The Burgon & Ball blade sharpener is ideal for sharpening most types of blades, including secateurs, pruners, hedge shears, and many other sharp tools, except saws. With only 12.5cm (5in) long, it's perfect for slipping into a pocket and maintaining your tools on the go.
The 2cm (1in) file on the tip of this sharpener is made of super carbide, an ultra-resistant alloy, for long-lasting durability and superior performance. A cap prevents pocket wear, and the soft non-slip handle allows for a firm grip of the blade sharpener during use.
The dormant period is the ideal time to undertake pruning and shaping of ornamental or fruit trees in the garden. To ensure clean cuts, use perfectly sharp tools. Don't wait for the cutting edge of your tools to become too blunt before sharpening them. A cut that is not clean damages the plant by leaving torn bark or tissue, which is conducive to the development of diseases or parasites. Only sharpen perfectly clean tools. To do this, wash them with clean water and then dry them to prevent rust.
Honing stones, sharpeners, and blade sharpeners are essential for taking care of the cutting edge and ensuring not only their cutting quality, blade and counter-blade longevity, but also an optimization of cutting effort. This also allows for longer intervals between sharpenings.
Often overlooked by gardeners, it is necessary to disinfect cutting tools as often as possible. To do this, use a cloth soaked in 90° alcohol. It destroys parasites, fungi, or viruses that may have settled while cutting a diseased plant.
This blade sharpener is so small and discreet in your pocket that it will practically go everywhere with you.

The English have the privilege of being the reference in gardening (if not in cooking). Promesses de Fleurs chose the English company Burgon & Ball for the quality of its materials and its steel manufacturing methods that are soon three centuries old. The company has been working with steel in Sheffield since 1730, starting with a patent for solid steel sheep shears. The production of garden shears and equipment quickly surpassed that of sheep shears, but Burgon & Ball stainless steel tools are officially approved by the Royal Horticultural Society - probably the ultimate reward in the gardening industry. And as it is known to have good tools, they must be well maintained.
