Thank you to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping service), the rose bush I received appears to be healthy. Planted near the 'Parfum de Nantes' variety, I am now eagerly awaiting its development... Note: Received without the variety label (which is essential for identifying the rose bush in all seasons).

Description

The 'André Willemse' Rose bush is a modern rose variety with large flowers that is not widely known, offering beautiful variegated roses in an original color. This bush rose produces turbinate roses, perfectly formed and beautifully flamed with pink, white, and orange on a pale yellow background. They are pleasantly scented. It has a perpetual flowering. A rarity to discover in the garden or bouquets!

While modern roses are often criticized for their stiffness and weak disease resistance, the 'André Willemse' variety stands out thanks to its large roses' shimmering and softly variegated color. This hybrid tea rose forms a small bush with a slightly upright habit and rapid growth. It will reach about 80 cm (32in) in height and 60 to 70 cm (24 to 28in) in width. From May-June until September-October, beautiful slender buds with purple-tinted foliar bracts appear on red branches. They then open into gorgeous modern roses, vast and solitary, carried by long, sturdy stems. They are randomly variegated with magenta pink, soft salmon orange, and pale yellow, sometimes touched with white. They are all different. They have a pleasant scent. The young foliage is tinged with bright red and becomes dark, glossy green at maturity.

This creation from Willemse, a Dutch company, with its unique colour and long flowering period will find its place in the garden in a large rose bed, in combination with yellow varieties ('Michelangelo', 'Golden Gate'), peach varieties ('The Lady Gardener', 'Fox Trot') or ivory varieties ('Winter Lodge', 'Pénélope'), or as a standalone in a carefully tended garden. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, allowing it to be welcomed without reservation from the north to the south of our country, even at medium altitudes. It pairs perfectly with pretty and easy-to-grow perennials such as perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', 'Anne Folkard', 'Nimbus', 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, snapdragons, foxgloves... Its flowers can be used to create exquisite bouquets that will delicately perfume the house.

Planting and care

If you want to plant a rose bush in a pot, start by preparing the soil. Dig a hole 25 cm (10in) deep and add a base amendment such as blood, fish and bone. Take your plant out of its pot and position it in the hole. Cover the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill the hole, and water generously. If the weather is dry, water the plant regularly for a few weeks to help it grow. Also, remember to use special rose fertilisers to help your plant bloom.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
