Koko Loko™ was created by Christian Bédard for Weeks Roses in 2008, then marketed in 2012. Patented under the name Rosa ‘WEKbijou’, it is also known in some countries as 'Soul Sister'. This cultivar is the result of cross-breeding ‘Blueberry Hill’ and ‘Pot O’Gold’. It has been awarded several distinctions, including the AARS Award in 2011, as well as various medals and trophies in Australia in 2013, recognising its originality and horticultural qualities. This rose belongs to the floribunda group, which includes floriferous, often bushy varieties, combining the elegant form of hybrid teas with more abundant and continuous cluster flowering.
'Koko Loko' has a bushy, rounded to slightly upright habit, well-branched from the base. It forms a shrub of 90cm to 1.40m in height, for 0.75m to 0.90m in width. This rose develops dense, glossy, dark green, deciduous foliage: it loses its leaves in winter except in very mild climates. The stems bear a few slender thorns. Its flowers are very double (about 30 to 35 petals) and measure 10 to 11 cm in diameter. Their turbinate form, sometimes globose when fully open, recalls old-fashioned roses. The colouring evolves from cocoa brown to light mocha, then towards tones of powdery lavender to silver, depending on the light and flowering stage. The fragrance is light to moderate, with notes of apricot or mild spices, more noticeable in the morning or in dry weather. Flowering extends from May-June until October, in successive waves. It slows down at the height of summer, especially in dry, hot weather.

Koko Loko™ (Rosa ‘WEKbijou’) is a floribunda rose distinguished by a harmony of rare shades and nuanced tones, from cocoa brown to powdery lavender. Its perfect, beautifully turbinate flowers have an unreal quality reminiscent of silk roses. It is an elegant shrub that fits equally well in romantic borders and more contemporary gardens. Its repeat flowering, subtle apricot fragrance and healthy foliage will appeal to lovers of unique roses with nostalgic charm.
Koko Loko™ is at its best in borders dominated by fine textures and delicate harmonies. It pairs well with the silvery foliage of Artemisia ‘Valerie Finnis’, which highlights its cream and lavender nuances. It can also be combined with the roses ‘The Lady Gardener’, with blended apricot-pink flowers, ‘Scepter’d Isle’ with pearly pale pink, or 'Novalis' with mauve highlights. A Nepeta ‘Dawn to Dusk’, with lilac-pink flowers, completes this soft and sophisticated display. It will look good in groups of three plants surrounded by blue hardy geraniums, as well as in a large pot on your patio or balcony.

Planting and care
Plant your Koko Loko rose in a sunny position or in light shade. Modern roses are tolerant but do not like shallow, poor soils. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well-worked, deep, not too compact, and very rich. To plant your rose, work your soil, breaking it up well, and add a fertiliser to the bottom of the planting hole, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Water generously after planting to remove air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root establishment.
Roses are often spotted, or unsightly, at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
