The bare root rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted in the ground, I'm now patiently waiting for it to take... (or not?).

Description
The 'Laetitia Casta' Rose, flourishing and generous, pays a beautiful tribute to the eponymous fashion icon and eternal femininity she embodies magnificently. Its large bicolour roses with voluptuous shapes wear a lovely robe in pastel and changing tones, and they renew themselves from summer until the first cold on a robust and vigorous bush that has a beautiful presence in the garden. Prized numerous times, especially for its subtle tea rose fragrance and disease resistance, this variety also develops long stems, ideal for cut flowers. A reliable choice!
The 'Laetitia Casta' Rose or 'Meilampario', registered by the rose breeder Meilland in 2010, has won numerous awards in international competitions, including the Silver Medal in Monza in 2009, the Silver Medal in Le Roeulx in 2009, the Geneva Certificate in 2009, the Aesthetic Award and the Bronze Medal for Breeders in Baden-Baden in 2009, the Gold Medal in St Albans in 2010, and finally the Most Beautiful Rose in France in Lyon in 2010. This hybrid tea rose is considered Floribunda, with flowers grouped in corymbs or small bouquets.
The plant forms an upright, ramified bush with vigorous and rapid growth. It can reach up to 1.30 m (4ft) in height, with a spread of 90 cm (35in) to 1 m (3ft). From May-June until late in the season, on a foliage composed of large leaflets of a matte green, small bouquets of 11 cm (4in) diameter roses bloom. They consist of 25 to 28 petals edged with frills, arranged in a spiral, with the typical shape of hybrid tea roses. Their colour is a pale pinkish cream with a deeper pink border, and the flower's heart is yellow, fading to ivory. The disease resistance of this rose is excellent. This deciduous, hardy shrub loses its leaves in autumn. Its bronze-coloured young shoots add to its charm in spring and summer throughout the flowering period. It performs best when planted in rich, deep, fresh summer soil.
With its undeniable charm and classic style, this modern rose 'Laetitia Casta' is ideal in the garden in a large rose bed, at the front of a shrub bed, or as a standalone in a small, well-kept garden. The colour of its flowers easily complements all pink or blue blooms, as well as white. Consider planting it near easy-to-grow plants like Chinese peonies, perennial geraniums (Geranium Blue Cloud, Anne Folkard, Nimbus, Orion), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, perennial salvias, foxgloves... Dwarf buddleias also make lovely companions for bush roses. Its flowers allow for the creation of high-class bouquets.

Planting and care
To plant your 'Laetitia Casta' rose, work the soil to a depth of 25 cubic cm, crumble the soil and add a bottom amendment such as blood, fish and bone. Position your plant, remove it from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. Regular watering is necessary for a few weeks in dry weather to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser to stimulate flowering. Choose a sunny location or partial shade in very hot regions.
Roses often have stains or may look unsightly towards the end of summer. However, this is not a problem for their development. These stains are natural and do not harm the rose.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
