More information

This rose forms a low, spreading, dense carpet covered with small white single flowers with a heart of yellow stamens. They open from June to September above tiny foliage and are followed by small rose hips. Its growth leaves very little room for weeds, and it is much visited by pollinating insects. Plant it in sun or partial shade, in ordinary, well-prepared, well-drained soil that is not too dry. This variety has received several awards.

Description

The 'Visallcover' ROSANATURA® NAPI® rose is a ground-cover rose from the Rosanatura series with small single white flowers that forms a low, particularly dense and regular carpet of vegetation. Its very dense burnet rose foliage and suckering habit make it a true groundcover. Plant it in a border, on a bank or at the front of a bed. Its small corollas reveal a cluster of yellow, pollen-rich stamens. It flowers throughout the summer and produces small decorative red rose hips in autumn.

This rose belongs to the Rosaceae family. It is known as the Rosanatura Napi ground-cover rose. Its cultivar name is 'Visallcover'; its trade name is ROSANATURA® NAPI® and it belongs to the ROSANATURA® series. Green Summer® is another trade name used in some catalogues. The ROSANATURA® series brings together landscape roses with single flowers, selected for their natural habit, repeat flowering and good garden performance. This one stands out for its much lower habit than that of a classic shrub rose. It forms very low, regular growth, dense enough to limit weed growth. This shrub reaches 20 to 30 cm in height and at least 60 cm in spread .Ungrafted, it grows on its own roots and produces suckers that allow it to spread gradually. Its slender stems bear prickles and extend close to the ground. The leaves are compound, with very small, toothed, oval leaflets and a glossy medium green colour. The foliage is semi-evergreen : it remains in place if the winter is mild but becomes sparse in severe frosts. The flowers measure approximately 3 cm across. Each corolla opens flat, with five rounded white petals and a centre of yellow, pollen-rich stamens. Small rose hips form after pollination and ripen in autumn.

Rosanatura Napi® rose was bred in Belgium by Martin Vissers around 2010. It has received several awards, including the 2022 Rose d'Or de Nyon, prizes in Barcelona in 2021, a certificate at Bagatelle in 2022, a medal in Warsaw in 2023 and first prize in the ground-cover category at the 2025 Grand Prix de la Rose SNHF.

The Rosanatura Napi rose is suitable for containers, bed borders, flowerbeds and banks. It adapts to almost all soils and climates. It combines naturally with other Rosanatura or Decorosier varieties such as 'Vesuvia', Rosanatura® Rosea, Isalia, Emera. Planted in a line, it also borders paths and highlights flower beds. For example, combine it with hardy geraniums ('Blue Cloud', 'Anne Folkard', 'Nimbus', 'Orion') and creeping campanulas.

Planting and care

Rosanatura Napi roses prefer a sunny position (at least 4 to 5 hours of sunshine per day), sheltered from strong winds. They have low water requirements, tolerate heat fairly well and adapt to most soils. Soil that is too dry in summer will reduce flowering, but the plant itself is quite drought-tolerant once well rooted. All roses thrive in loose, free-draining, deep and fertile soil. They prefer slightly acidic soil, but will adapt to any garden as long as the ground is well prepared and sufficiently fertile.

To plant your rose in a container, work the soil to a depth of 30 cm, breaking it up thoroughly, and place a basal fertiliser such as dried blood or hoof and horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position the plant after removing it from its pot, covering the top of the rootball with 3 cm of soil. Backfill and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to aid rooting. Also remember to feed your rose with a special rose fertiliser to stimulate flowering.

Roses are often blemished or unsightly at the end of summer, but this does not affect their development. These marks are not harmful to the rose; they are a natural phenomenon. Follow all our advice to remedy the problem and read our article: Help: my roses have blemishes
