Out of the three organic PICNIC rose bushes, only one is beautiful. The other two have multiple dry, black, or broken stems. After a few orders on your website, I have noticed that the quality and/or preparation of the products leaves much to be desired. It's a shame because you are reliable when it comes to delivery times. But as a long-time customer, I never receive any promotional codes???

Description

Rosa Picnic is a small bush that is both radiant and delicious. It offers medium-sized, double roses in clusters, with a warm yellow colour and a subtle fragrance. Its flowers, buds, and edible petals are tasty and have a delicate aroma, making them perfect for fruit salads, confectionery, jams, and jellies. The small bush is naturally resistant to disease. It blooms in waves from June to October. It is perfect for borders and pots, and it also provides beautiful flowers for bouquets. The roses add a decorative touch to plates and cakes for special occasions.

This floribunda rose bush belongs to a new series of roses called Gourmet Roses, selected for their natural disease resistance, compact growth, and fragrant, flavourful flowers. It is often overlooked, but this rose is the queen of edible flowers. These roses form an abundance of flowers. They are suitable for organic cultivation, and provide delicious and delicate flowers to enjoy in the garden, on a balcony, and in the kitchen.

Rosa Picnic forms a small, bushy, upright shrub, reaching an average height of 60 to 70cm (24 to 28in) and a width of 40 to 50cm (16 to 20in). It grows rapidly. Its thorny stems are covered with abundant, dark green foliage that is less susceptible to disease under proper growing conditions. The foliage is deciduous and falls in autumn. The flowers bloom in waves from June to October. They are medium-sized (6 to 7cm (2 to 3in)), with a turbinated shape typical of modern roses. Their yellow colour remains vibrant in the sun. The flowering occurs in corymbs, meaning clusters of multiple flowers. Their fragrance is moderately pronounced and more noticeable in calm and warm weather.

Rosa Picnic is perfect for creating a charming small border, planted in groups of 3 to 5 plants alongside purple, white, blue, or orange flowers. It can be paired with annual delphiniums, perennial flax, lavender, or pink-to-white foxgloves, for example. It also adds radiance to perennial borders and large borders. Roses pair perfectly with catmints, lavender, bellflowers, paniculate baby's breath, and herbaceous or climbing clematis. You can plant it in front of taller shrubs or roses, or use it to adorn the base of a small tree with its charming presence.

In the kitchen

Ideally, harvest in the morning. Use the petals when the flowers are almost fully open, but not faded (they quickly lose their aroma). Only consume flowers from untreated plants. You can use them in confectionery, to flavour jellies, jams, fruit salads, prepare syrup, or to flavour drinks.

Planting and care

Plant Rosa Picnic from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened, and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clayey soils rather than light ones. In excessively sandy, compact, or dry summer soil, it is advisable to incorporate potting soil or decomposed manure or compost at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose fears waterlogged soil in winter. Place it in a sunny location, preferably in partial shade. Roses are hungry plants, so a specific fertiliser will be beneficial at the start of its growth, and regularly throughout the flowering period.

Regularly remove faded flowers to encourage new blooms.

Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and more floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Prune the stems to about a quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 eyes from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud so that the bush thickens and the branches do not intertwine in the centre.
