Our selection of Thujopsis: nicknamed Hiba or Japanese Arborvitae, the Thujopsis dolabrata is an evergreen conifer appreciated for its dense and glossy foliage, reminiscent of the arborvitae. It stands out with its flattened branches with dark green on top and marked with silver patterns underneath. The compact Thujopsis dolabrata ‘Nana' forms a small, rounded, and dense bush, ideal for rock or small gardens. The Thujopsis dolabrata ‘Variegata’ cultivar offers a delicately variegated foliage with creamy white, making it a luminous conifer perfect as a standalone feature in the garden.

The Thujopsis dolabrata, the sole representative of theThujopsis genus, belongs to the Cupressaceae family. Native to Japan, it is nicknamed asunaro. This tree can reach up to 40 metres in its natural habitat but is of smaller stature in cultivation.

Hardy, the Thujopsis thrives in cool, deep, acidic, and well-drained soil as well as in partially shaded or sunny exposures in humid regions. It tolerates pruning well and can be used for hedging or as a standalone feature.
