A number of bush are able to thrive in dry, even arid conditions where the soil is filtering, draining and retains little water. In the most extreme situations, plants develop specific morphological adaptations: succulent leaves in Agaves, tough and shiny leaves in evergreengreen oaks, or silver leaves in Perovskia.
All these plants tolerate clayey and wet soils poorly, especially during winter, and their roots often tend to rot. If your land seems too heavy, improve it with pumice or sand - or turn to plants for clayey soils in the "Bush by soil type" section!

You'll adore them!
