Our range of Berberis thunbergii, also known as Thunberg's barberries or Japanese barberries. Like the typical species Berberis thunbergii, these deciduous bushes are interesting for their colourful foliage and great resilience. Equipped with thorny branches, they are perfect for creating colourful defensive hedges. The variety ‘Atropurpurea’ is one of the best known, with its intense purple foliage adorned with red hues in autumn. Berberis thunbergii ‘Golden Rocket’ stands out for its upright habit and bright golden foliage, contrasting with its small red berries in winter. The cultivar ‘Orange Rocket’, on the other hand, offers an explosion of colours ranging from coral to bright orange. For a romantic effect, Berberis thunbergii ‘Rosy Glow’ features variegated foliage of pink, purple, and white.
Japanese barberries thrive in sunny or semi-shaded locations and adapt to most soils, provided they are well-drained. The cultivars have a very variable height, ranging from 50 cm to 2.5 m.
