Description

Betula pendula 'Royal Frost' is an ornamental birch whose immaculate white trunk offers an incredible contrast with the foliage in shades of purple-chocolate. It beautifully dresses up formal and contemporary gardens, and allows for magnificent black and white combinations.

A tree with a dense pyramidal habit, the 'Royal Frost' Birch reaches a height of 4m (13 ft 1 in) to 6m (19 ft 8 in) at maturity. Its deciduous leaves are cordate and toothed and coloured intense purple-chocolate. In autumn, its foliage will surprise you with its change in colour, ranging from orange-yellow to red. Its flexible stems undulate in the wind. It has male flowering in the form of light brown catkins. The 'Royal Frost' Birch has a decorative bark that is white with cinnamon nuances, and it peels off with age.

The 'Royal Frost' Birch is a slow-growing tree, very hardy and resistant to diseases. It thrives in any type of soil and requires full sun or partial shade. It will have the most beautiful effect when planted alone, in rows, as a hedge, or in a bed with its decorative bark.
