Our range of White-barked Birches, to illuminate the garden throughout the year. The Silver Birch, Betula pendula, is the most widespread. Its smooth, brilliant white bark cracks with age and reveals itself beneath its light, finely cut foliage. The Himalayan Birch, Betula utilis var. jacquemontii, stands out with its almost pure white bark that peels in thin sheets, revealing shades of cream and orange. Betula papyrifera, the Paper Birch, is another appreciated species for its white and smooth trunk. This tree is perfect for bringing light to shady areas of the garden.
These graceful trees prefer fresh, well-drained soil, preferably slightly acidic. Their light foliage allows for the creation of a shaded understory that will host woodland perennials. In winter, the white bark of birches reveals a particular structure and elegance, contrasting beautifully with evergreen foliage and snowy scenes.
