Description

The Calycanthus x raulstonii Hartlage Wine, is a very hardy and fast-growing bush that bears remarkable red-purple flowers reminiscent of a water lily.

Still relatively uncommon, the Calycanthus Hartlage Wine forms a spherical 2m (6.5ft) wide habit, and its unique flowering adds a touch of originality to the garden.

Starting from May, this recent plant produces fragrant, water-lily-like flowers in a magnificent dark purple colour, sometimes with white edges on the petals. The flowers bloom until June, and the flowering can sometimes be repeated at the end of summer.

Easy to grow, this Calycanthus likes sun or partial shade, in any fertile, moist, and well-drained, non-calcareous soil. Plant it near a pathway or in a border to enjoy its subtle fragrance and unique flowers.
