Our range of European Spindles. Derived from the native species Euonymus europaeus, these deciduous bushes stand out for their small decorative fruits and stunning autumn foliage. All add a colourful touch to naturalistic hedges and flower beds. The 'Red Cascade' variety is notable for its spreading habit and particularly vibrant autumn foliage, while 'Pendulus', with its trailing branches, is ideal for small spaces. The 'Albus' form produces uncommon white fruits, equally decorative.
European Spindles thrive in full sun or partial shade, in any well-drained soil, even fairly dry in summer. They are hardy, adapt to many climates and are perfect for creating country hedges or adding a wild touch to the garden. Their maintenance is simple: a light pruning after flowering is enough. Be aware that spindle fruits are toxic to humans but nourish local wildlife, especially birds.
