Description

The Euonymus fortunei 'Minimus' is a small, hardy sarmentous bush. It is a variety of spindle with a spreading habit and evergreen foliage.

The Euonymus fortunei 'Minimus' is a compact spreading bush. At maturity, it will spread up to 80 cm (31.5 in) and reach 15-20 cm (5.9-7.9 in) in height. Its evergreen foliage, located on a mat of stems, is composed of small dark green ovate leaves. During the months of June and July, a discreet flowering will appear in the form of small white-green flowers.

This spreading bush will be ideal for dressing up your rockeries, borders or slopes. Its dense and evergreen foliage will prevent the growth of many adventive plants. The 'Minimus' spindle can also be placed near a vertical support so that it can climb with the help of its climbing roots.

A partially shaded or full sun exposure will suit it. It will thrive in an ordinary, poor, fresh, and well-drained soil.

Planting and care

The Euonymus fortunei 'Minimus' is preferably planted in spring in any well-drained soil in a sunny or semi-shaded position. Pruning is unnecessary, it is better to pinch out the young plants to encourage branching and only remove dead or diseased wood. Apply fertiliser twice a year, in early spring and autumn. In case of drought, water to maintain a beautiful foliage.
