Laurels come in several varieties: Rose, Palm, Tin, of Portugal... They have flowers, sometimes scented, for flower beds or glossy leaves, usually evergreen, for hedge management. The aromatic-leaved bay laurel is ideal for cooking in flavored dishes. The Tin or Viburnum laurestinus is a lovely Mediterranean shrub, it is evergreen with white/pink umbel flowers, which is well suited for free flowering hedges. The Prunus lusitanica Angustifolia or Portuguese Laurel is a compact and conical shrub, ideal for structuring flower beds. Growing laurels is suitable for all exposures but it is especially important to pay attention to the hardiness of the varieties. The Oleander cannot tolerate temperatures below -7°C (19.4°F). In terms of soil, well-drained soil is suitable for all varieties, with moderate watering.
