Our range of California Privets (Ligustrum ovalifolium and its cultivars). These evergreen to semi-evergreen bushes form dense, well-branched hedges that are easy to prune. With their rapid growth, good hardiness, and excellent pollution resistance, they are perfect for gardens of all sizes, whether in the countryside or the city.
The classic California Privet develops glossy green foliage which is semi-evergreen to evergreen depending on the region, and can reach up to 3 m in height. It adapts well to strict or more relaxed pruning. The 'Aureum' cultivar offers variegated golden-yellow foliage, bright and particularly decorative in low hedges or as a standalone plant. 'Green Diamond' is more compact (around 1.5 m), featuring a dense habit and shiny green foliage. Ligustrum ovalifolium 'Argenteum', with its beautiful green and cream variegation and vigorous habit, makes for a decorative hedge.
Privet, or Ligustrum in Latin, is a robust and easy-to-grow bush or small tree from the Oleaceae family. It adapts to most well-drained soils and tolerates temporary drought. Prune it twice a year to maintain a neat and dense habit, preferably after flowering and at the end of summer.
