Description
The Double Punch® Pink shrubby cinquefoil charms with its compact, rounded habit and its particularly long-lasting soft pink flowering. Its double flowers, in a stable pink shade, are uncommon among cinquefoils. They bring a delicate and refined note to the garden. This low, dense, well-proportioned shrub maintains a neat appearance all season long. Very hardy and easy to grow, it is suitable for beds and borders and container cultivation on a sunny terrace.
This Double Punch® Pink cinquefoil ('Minpopink05') belongs to the Rosaceae family and derives from Potentilla fruticosa (or Dasiphora fruticosa according to recent nomenclature), a species native to the temperate and cold regions of the northern hemisphere: North America, Europe, and Asia. Selected by Hortival Diffusion in France, the Double Punch® series brings together varieties with double flowers in various colours, all appreciated for their harmonious habit and remarkable floriferousness.
Potentilla Double Punch® Pink reaches approximately 50 cm in height and spread at maturity. Its flowering begins in June, continues throughout the summer, and it then has a second flush in early autumn, until the first cold spells. The medium-sized flowers (2.5 to 3 cm in diameter) are double and a uniform pink that does not fade in the sun. The deciduous, finely pinnate foliage is composed of small, narrow, elongated leaflets in a deep green, forming a discreet backdrop that highlights the flowering. Hardy down to −20 °C, this cinquefoil adapts to a wide range of soils, provided they are well-drained.
The Double Punch® Pink shrubby cinquefoil is an ideal plant for your beds, borders, and terraces. Its soft pink flowering harmonises perfectly with other cinquefoils in the range, such as ‘Double Punch® Pastel’ or ‘Double Punch® Cream’, for a soft and romantic scene. Combine it with floriferous dwarf and mini roses or low-growing perennials like Nepeta ‘Cat’s Pajamas’ to enjoy a garden full of colour all summer long. Compact, resilient, and very hardy, it adapts equally well to small gardens and to containers on the balcony.

Planting and care
Potentilla fruticosa Double Punch Pink is hardy and withstands low temperatures (-20°C). It prefers a sunny position to flower well, but tolerates partial shade. Its only real requirement concerns the nature of the soil in which it is planted. It needs ordinary, rather poor, very well-drained soil. In heavy or clay soils that do not suit it, it is advisable to place it on a slope or rock garden to improve drainage. It is also possible to lighten the soil at planting time by adding coarse sand and gravel to achieve better drainage. Another quality to add to its list of merits is its good drought tolerance once established. This shrubby cinquefoil does not require much maintenance.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
