Our range of Japanese dwarf flowering cherries, to enjoy spring flowering in small spaces. The most well-known is probably Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-mai’ : this small cherry forms a slightly twisted bush, well-suited to container growing or small gardens. It is covered as early as March with numerous pale pink bell-shaped flowers, before the foliage appears. The wild species, Prunus incisa, is a small deciduous tree whose early flowering takes the form of small single or semi-double, white to pinkish flowers.
Prunus incisa ‘Oshidori’ stands out for its light pink flowering in delicate bells and its naturally spreading habit. ‘Mikinori’ presents a very pure white flowering, accompanied by glossy green foliage that takes on beautiful orange hues in autumn. 'Yamadei’ is more low-key, with very early, single, white flowers, sometimes as early as the end of February, and is well-suited to low hedge or specimen planting.
These small flowering cherries do not exceed 2 to 3 m in height with a rounded or spreading habit. They thrive in sun or partial shade, in a well-drained, neutral to slightly acidic soil. Prunus incisa are undemanding, hardy and resistant to diseases.
