Original plant, I am very happy. Received in the spring, it has produced many leaves but it hasn't grown. However, this doesn't prevent it from being very beautiful. One of my favorites on the terrace.

Description

Rhamnus frangula Fine Line (Ron Williams) is a variety of buckthorn resulting from a cross-breeding with the Asplenifolia variety, from which it inherited its beautifully finely cut and undulate foliage. However, its columnar habit comes from its other parent, Rhamnus frangula Columnaris.

This bush will remain small in size. Its undeniable ornamental qualities will provide an exotic touch to your garden. Its foliage plays wonderfully in the wind, and in autumn, it takes on beautiful colourful shades. It produces tiny yellowish flowers, followed by red or black fruit in autumn. Its upright habit will create a beautiful visual effect.

More commonly known as Alder Buckthorn or Glossy Buckthorn. These hardy bushes are very tolerant of lime.

Plant in a free hedge, in a large shrub bed, or in large pots accompanied by low perennials.

Despite its medicinal reputation, it is advisable to consider the fruits of the buckthorn as toxic, as they are a powerful purgative with difficult dosage considerations.

Planting and care

Make sure that the young plant is not in full sun. Partial shade is preferable, as it is sensitive to summer drought when young. If you plant it in spring, you can water it for a while to ensure its establishment. Pruning should be done lightly before the buds break at the end of winter.
