Cotton is a material that surrounds the seeds of the cotton plant, called Gossypium in Latin. It is a plant from the Malvaceae family, related to our hollyhocks, with around fifty herbaceous annual, perennial, or shrubby species originating from sub-tropical to tropical regions of Asia and America. Four of these species are the origin of the currently cultivated varieties for cotton production: Gossypium arboreum, Gossypium barbadense, Gossypium herbaceum, and Gossypium hirsutum. Rich in cellulose, cotton fibre is known for its permeability and strength. This La Cordeline twine is made from raw, untreated, uncoloured fibre simply woven into a cable. Resistant, flexible, lightweight, and washable, it can be used in various crafts, such as jewelry making, as well as sewing, embroidery, knitting, and macramé. This twine can be easily cut with a pair of scissors, a sharp knife, or a cutter. Compostable, cotton naturally degrades without leaving any residue in the environment.
