This ecru linen wired string from La Cordeline is rigid but very easy to work with. It has uses as varied as they are original, both in the garden for tying in or supporting plants, as well as in the home for creating various decorative objects. You can train, stake and tie in delicate plants with a simple twist, effectively holding them without strangling or harming the fragile stems. Only 1.5mm (0in) in diameter, it is supplied in a 100g ball, which unwinds to approximately 60m (197ft).
This string is made of linen, from 100% plant-based fibres, uncoloured, wrapped around wire. It has a rustic appearance, a very light beige colour, and mechanical qualities similar to wire: it can take any desired shape, twists easily and retains its given shape. This tie allows for attaching plants with a simple twist, without the need for a knot, and can be undone easily. The linen fibres surrounding the wire prevent the tie from harming the plant stems. The linen string ihas high mechanical strength, is difficult to burn, and resists abrasion and moisture. This string can be cut with a good pair of scissors or a small cutting pliers.
In addition to its legendary strength, linen is attractive for its natural aspect and rustic style. The ecru linen wired string, for example, can be used in the vegetable garden to stake tomatoes, tall climbing beans, cucumbers on the terrace, and in the ornamental garden to tie and train a unruly vine or fragile stem. Twisting multiple strands together gives it a nice rigidity, useful for making supports for delicate orchids and other plants, for example. It is also a highly appreciated material in the context of creative hobbies, used to make characters, statuettes, small scenes and landscapes, a mobile with papier-mâché, mini hangers, table decorations, original plant pots and frames. Solid and very flexible, you can twist it as you wish.
