Not received but Promesse de Fleurs called me to express their disappointment with the vine-plant to be sent. It is an honest approach that I greatly appreciated.

Description

The collection 3 contemporary Amaryllis are indoor bulbs with a spectacular shape. It blooms from December to May in clusters of giant flowers.

This collection is composed of:

- 1 'Evergreen' Amaryllis: The flowers of this Hippeastrum are simple trumpet-shaped and the petals are tapering in bright green with a core colour reminiscent of Granny Smith apples.

- 1 'Chico' Amaryllis: with flowers red in colour, tinged with green towards the ends, with the lower petal entirely green.

- 1 'Papilio' Amaryllis: The flowers of this 'Papilio' Amaryllis are simple trumpet-shaped and the petals are tapering in soft green with burgundy red stripes.

The heart of the Amaryllis is green and adorned with 6 long stamens. The flowers are perched on sturdy stems.

These varieties have semi-evergreen foliage. At maturity, the amaryllis, also known as Hippeastrum, can reach a height of 30 to 45cm (12 to 18in). Place your Amaryllis in a pot to beautify your interior. You can also grow it in the garden against a well-exposed wall, sheltered from cold winds. Amaryllis freeze at -5°C (23°F). Planting and care

Amaryllis thrives in full sun or partial shade in any moist soil. For pot cultivation, allow for a 2cm (1in) gap around the bulb and use a heavy pot to prevent it from tipping over due to the Amaryllis leaning towards the sun. Use a well-draining, light soil that is neutral or slightly acidic. In a pot, leave half of the bulb above the soil to prevent the neck from getting wet during watering and rotting. Additionally, this provides more space for the soil. Plant your Amaryllis bulbs from October to March, depending on the desired flowering period, keeping in mind that there should be a 2-month gap between planting and flowering. After flowering, trim the flowers while allowing the foliage to grow. At the end of summer, let the soil dry out and cut off the dry leaves. 6 weeks later, repot the bulb in fresh soil.
