I planted several Wateremerus a few years ago. At first, with little success. I thought that my soil was not suitable (limestone clay amended with compost) as there was no flowering. I moved two of them to the sunniest spot in the garden, facing South. And there, a beautiful Flowering, on tall stems, absolutely spectacular. A great success, deserving numerous compliments.

Planting and care
Plant in the sun, covering the bud of the bulb with 7 cm (3in) of soil, in rocky soil that can be damp as long as it is well-drained. As soon as you plant it, it produces new shoots between its "tentacles" - these tentacles will be replaced by new ones in less than 2 months. The plant is thus well anchored in the soil and does not require staking. The young plants are sensitive to frost.

It will vary according to where you live:
- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
