Description

Here is our Contrasting Red and White duo that brings together two high-class varieties of tulips. The purity of white and the power of cardinal red complement each other in any floral composition, whether in the garden or in a vase. Both bloom together in April-May, with the red corollas of the 'Ile de France' tulip slightly dominating those of 'White Marvel'.

This duo consists of:

10 x Early Single Tulip 'White Marvel': the elegant and bright, narrow corolla of this tulip is a perfect white. It blooms at the top of a thick and sturdy, 30 cm tall stem.

10 x Triumph Tulip 'Ile de France': a variety appreciated for the exceptional brightness of its red flower. Its long 45 cm stem withstands bad weather well.

Individually labelled.

Plant the bulbs of this contrasting Red and White duo from late September to late November, in well-prepared garden soil, in full sun, at a depth of 15 cm. Group them in sets of at least 5, making sure they do not touch each other. Mix the bulbs of these two varieties or separate the colours in your composition. They will bloom next spring. To complete your flower bed, choose, for example, white or blue forget-me-nots or hyacinths in the same tones. These two tulips will also make a beautiful combination with white narcissus ('Obdam' or yellow ('Dick Wilden'). To hide the gaps left by tulips in summer, plant them between perennial geraniums 'Rozanne' and Chinese peonies, for example. You can also plant your tulips in large pots to decorate the terrace in spring.

Planting and care

Plant your bulbs as soon as possible in a well-drained soil. Loosen the soil deeply. Plant at a depth of 10-15 cm (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch each other. Choose a sunny location for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stalks and allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
